Elle Holland State Preliminary Meet

On Friday, November 16th, Elle Holland swam at the State preliminary meet held at Ithaca College.  This is Elle’s third and final season attending the State meet.  Elle competed in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke events and finished 41st and 46th in the state.  There were approximately 570 athletes all over NYS at this meet and over 20,000 girls that swim competitively.  It is a huge honor and success for any athlete to make it the NYS State meet  In addition, Elle was recognized for her academic success by being acknowledged as a scholar athlete with a rose at a special ceremony for those athletes that can balance the demands of swimming/diving and academics.  We are so very proud that Elle competed one last season and has left her mark here at SGI.  Elle is the only female swimmer to ever qualify for this meet from SGI and she should be proud of not only that accomplishment, but also the 9 records she has broken at SGI.  (no other female has broken that many records at SGI)  It has been quite a journey with Elle and the experiences not only she got, but also her coaches and teammates were able to be part of are unforgettable.  Congratulations to Elle Holland as being an SGI Swimming Legacy!
