Girls Swimming and Diving Update

The girls swimming and diving team accomplished their team goal….They beat Eden Friday night 103-83!  This makes the girls 5-0 in their league and 6-0 overall!  Overall the team had 30 seasonal improvements.  The relay teams of Elle Holland, Carely Delaney, Lexi Blesy, Allie Lavanture took a strong 1st place finish capturing 8 points and the other lane of Sadie Olrogg, Lauren Ditchey, Sydney Emley, and Hannah Bergner took a 3rd place finsh  for 2 points.  Attacking Eden with a 10-4 lead after the first event, the lady Griffs never backed down the entire meet!  Galvin took a strong 1st place finish in the 200 free and Emily Schlemmer took a 5th place and dropped over a second.  Lauren Ditchey took a strong 1st place finish in the 200 IM and Sydney Emley took a 2nd droppeing 3.7 seconds along with Katie Schlememr taking a 5th place.  50 Free was represented by Elle Holland taking a 2nd place finish, Allie Lavanture a 3rd, and Hannah Bergner taking a 5th.  Alyssa Greaves, Shannon O’Hara, and Samantha Zifra took 2nd, 3rd, 4th consecutively in diving.  Sydney Emley dropped almost 4 seconds in her 100 fly to capture a strong 2nd place while Lexi Blesy was right behind her with a 3rd and Katie Schlemmer with a 5th.  Elle Holland dominated the 100 free taking 1st place and Hannah Bergner dropped 2.2 seconds to capture the team a 3rd and Abby Moscato got a sectional time and a 5th place finish.  McKenzie Galvin got her seasonal best 500 time taking 1st and Emily Schlemmer dropped 11 seconds to take a 4th in the 500.  Sadie Olrogg dropped another second in her 100 back taking 2nd for the team and Allie Lavanture and Samantha Yetter both score for the Griffs too.  In Breaststroke, Carley Delaney, Lauren Ditchey, and Olivia Langa took a 1st, 2nd, and 5th and at that point we knew that the Win was ours.  Congratulations to this team!  They are an outstanding group of young ladies always showing the utmost class and sportsmanship a coach could ask for!  They rose to the challenge of a strong Eden squad and we are just so thrilled to have accomplished our team goal.  There is still more season left as we face Maryvale at home Tuesday and travel to Holland Friday.
