The Springville-Griffith School District supports student academic success by promoting health in the school setting. One way that we provide care for your student is by performing health screenings which are mandated by New York State.
The following screenings are required as of the 2018-2019 school year and will be completed throughout the year by the School Nurse:
- Vision (Distance and near screening performed annually for all new students and students in grades Pre-K, K, 1, 3, 5, 7, and 11)
- Color perfection screening is done one time for all new students.
- Hearing (Hearing screening is performed for all new students and annually for all students in grades K, 1, 3, 5, 7 and 11)
- Scoliosis (Scoliosis or spinal curvature screening is performed for girls grade 5 and 7. For boys, grade 9)
A phone call or referral letter will be sent home if there are any abnormal findings on the screenings performed at school which would require medical follow-up.
A physical examination including Body Mass Index and Weight Status Category Information is required for all newly entering students and students in Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten, Grades 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11.
A dental certificate is requested for all newly entering students and students in Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten, Grades 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11.
