January 22, 2021
I want to thank everyone for your continued understanding, flexibility and support as we navigate what is possibly one of the most challenging times in all of our lives. As you heard in Superintendent Moritz’s announcement that came out on Wednesday, January 20th, we are making changes to our schedule at Springville High School. You may ask why? While the schedule that we have utilized for hybrid instruction this year has some advantages, it has the major disadvantage of students spending five days away from their teacher each week. It is this large gap of time with little teacher contact that we have set out to rectify. On the reverse of this letter, you can find the schedule that we will be following beginning on February 22, 2021.
As you will see, the largest change is that students in the Purple Cohort will now attend school on Monday and Thursday while the Gold Cohort will attend on Tuesday and Friday. We are also adding scheduled online time on
Wednesdays where the Purple and Gold Cohorts will come together with their teacher. On Wednesdays, we will follow an “A day” schedule one week and a “B day” schedule the next. Again, the impetus for this change is to reduce the time that a child is not in scheduled contact with their teachers.
Of course no schedule is perfect and we realize that this may create some challenges for families. Please be assured that we are willing to work with you and your child to make this transition as simple for everyone as possible. If you should have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out the the High School Main Office at 592-3202.
