September 2024 Newsletter

IMPORTANT INFORMATION / NEWSLETTERS

As we prepare to welcome students back to school, we’re excited to fill the halls with their energy and enthusiasm. Here are a few important details to ensure a successful start:

(Tuesday, September 3rd): Students may be dropped off beginning at 8:45. Students will be allowed to wait in the main entrance at that time. Parents are kindly asked to drop their child/ren off at the door and not accompany them into the building. Students being picked up by adults will be dismissed at 3:10. Students that are riding the bus are dismissed at 3:30. We can’t wait to see all our students back in their classrooms!

A reminder to check the school supply lists and ensure your child is ready with the necessary materials. Lists were sent home with report cards and can be found at https://www.springvillegi.org/o/colden/page/school-supplies.

We encourage open communication between families and teachers. Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. We value your partnership in supporting your child’s education.

Keep an eye out for information about upcoming events, such as Parent Orientation, family events sponsored by our PTA, and ways to be involved in the classroom. We look forward to engaging with you and fostering a strong school community. A monthly school calendar will be sent home with students before the start of each month.

This event will be held on Thursday, September 12th from 6:00-7:30. This event is for all families with children in grades UPK - 5th grade.

School picture day is Thursday, October 10th. School picture make-up day is Tuesday, November 19th.

This year, S-GI received the UPK Expansion Grant from New York State Department of Education. This awarded our district with 33 additional UPK spots. Our district has two options offered to families: full-day UPK at Colden Elementary School or full-day UPK at Early Bird. Currently, our UPK classrooms are full at CES. Early Bird has 20 spots available. Students are able and encouraged to ride the bus once they are four years of age. Families are responsible for transportation to and from UPK programs if their child is three years of age.

The district is currently accepting bus passes for childcare purposes only. Please fill out the District Transportation Request Form as soon as possible. This form can also be filled out electronically at https://www.springvillegi.org/page/transportation.

After reviewing the enclosed Transportation Information, if you have any questions or changes that need to be made, please contact the Transportation Department, at transportation@springvillegi.org or call (716) 592-3278.

Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)

We are proud to announce that our district is eligible for the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). This means that all students in our district are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch every school day. Those families include students in grades UPK-12, and Cam P-tech There is no need for families to submit individual applications to qualify for these meals.

Breakfast After the Bell

To ensure that every student starts the day well-nourished and ready to learn, we are implementing the Breakfast After the Bell program. This initiative allows students to enjoy a nutritious breakfast even after the first bell rings, providing a convenient option for those who may have missed breakfast at home.

After School Snacks

We also offer a nutritious after school snack program, available to all students who participate in after-school activities. This ensures that students have access to healthy snacks to keep them energized and focused throughout their extended school day.

Free and Reduced Price Meal Applications

While all students are eligible for free meals under CEP, it is still important for families to complete the Free and Reduced Price Meal Application through the MySchoolApps platform, or with our paper applications available in all building main offices. Completing this application helps ensure that our district receives the appropriate funding and resources to continue providing these essential services to all students. Completed paper applications should be submitted to: Laura Watson/Director of Culinary Services.

MySchoolBucks

For added convenience, our district uses MySchoolBucks to manage meal accounts. Families can use this platform to monitor their child’s meal activity, add funds for a la carte items, and more. This easy-to-use service is designed to give families greater control and visibility over their children’s meal transactions. More information can be found at www.myschoolbucks.com

Contact the Nurse's Office at 716-592-3217 with questions.
