School Budget Vote and Board Member Election

Springville-Griffith Institute Central School District

Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order 202.26 established the date and associated procedures for the 2020 school district budget vote and board election.  The school vote, which had been scheduled for May 19, will now be conducted on Tuesday, June 9, 2020.

The Executive Order has directed that:

1.         The school vote will be conducted entirely by absentee ballot, eliminating the need for voters to travel to polling places.  Absentee ballots will be mailed to all qualified voters, along with a stamped, self-addressed return envelope.

2.         New requirements and timelines for board candidate nominations have been defined within the Executive Order.  The deadline for board candidates to file a nomination with the District Clerk is Monday, May 11, 2020 by  5pm.  School board candidates may self-nominate.  While no signatures are required for a self-nomination, the other required information for a nominating   petition must be contained within the filing so that the eligibility of the candidate may be    verified by the district.

            Those wishing to run for a seat on the Board of Education may submit the following documents to the District Clerk, Kathy Tucker, no later than Monday, May 11, 2020 by 5pm:

            a.         via email to

            b.         via US Mail to:  Kathy Tucker, District Clerk, 267 Newman Street, Springville NY 14141

            c.          Hand delivery to:  District Office, 267 Newman Street, Springville, NY  14141 (located within the SGI Middle School).  Office Hours are 9am-3pm, Monday through Thursday.

            Documents to be printed out, completed and returned (documents are attached):

            a.         1st page of the Petition.  Candidates, please write in your name and address in number (2), and sign your name and provide your address on Signature Line No. 1.

            b.         Prospective School Board Member Statement.

            c.          Request for General Information / Contact Information.

            If you are unable to print out these documents, hard copies will be available for pick up in the District Office located at 267 Newman Street, Springville, New York (located within the Springville Middle School) between the hours of 9am and 3pm, Monday through Thursday.
