Varsity Girls Swim Team ECIC Results

This past Saturday the Varsity Girls Swim Team competed in ECIC finals at Clarence High School.  This year the girls finished the best they have ever in years.  We took 3rd place!!!  This is a huge accomplishment because last year we finished 6th overall.  East Aurora led our league and Iroquois took 2nd.  Many accomplishments happened at this meet that surprised us all!  Elle Holland qualified for states in both the 100 free and the 100 back!!!!  In addition to qualifying, she re-set and broke her own school records with two personal best times of her swim career.  Her 100 free was swam in 53.85 and 100 back 1:00.36!  Elle had two solid performances and took 2nd overall in both these individual events.  We are so proud of Elle and her state qualifying times and look forward to what she does next week at our class meet and sectionals!  McKenzie Galvin has shattered her personal best in the 500 swimming an amazing 5:54.25 taking 5th place, and in her 200 free she got another personal best of 2:11.81, fighting off the 5th place girl to earn a 4th place patch.  Lauren Ditchey blasted out 2 personal best times in her individual swims surprising even herself!  Her 200 IM time was a 2:30.40, taking a 5th place and her 100 breast was a 1:14.44 taking home a 3rd place patch.  Carley Delaney swam her personal best in prelims for the 200 IM swimming a 2:43..05 and in the finals for 100 breast she swam her career best of 1:15.09 taking 5th place overall.  Our 200 Medley Relay of Holland, Delaney, Lexi Blesy, and Allie Lavanture swam their best time, and only 1.5 seconds off the school record of a 2:01.04.  They were able to pull off a 3rd place finish as well!  The 200 freestyle relay of Lavanture, Hannah Bergner, Sydney Emley and Galvin took home 4th place patch as well as a best time of 1:51.36.  Next week on November 1st our team will be representing Class C at ECC Burt Flickenger and our divers will be diving Thursday at Maryvale for their class meet.  Another exciting meet to look forward to for our 19 girls representing SGI!
