Dear S-GI Families,
Springville-Griffith Institute Central School District still has approximately 30 slots available for Full-Day Universal Pre-Kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year! These were made available through a UPK expansion grant. We plan to offer the following options:
Full-day UPK at Colden Elementary School
Full-day UPK at Early Bird Childcare Center
The primary purpose of our UPK program is to provide four-year-old children with the opportunity to access high-quality programs that prepare them for future school success through the development of strong foundational skills in early literacy and mathematics. Science and social studies themes are also explored. Our goal is to encourage and support student learning utilizing a student-centered approach based on strong instructional content that is tied directly to the New York State Pre-K Standards.
To be eligible, your child:
Must be age four (4) by December 1, 2025. Please note that a child who is age-eligible to attend kindergarten is not eligible for the UPK program.
Must be a resident of the Springville-Griffith Institute Central School District (Section 3602-e of Education Law).
Must meet all medical record and immunization requirements for school attendance.
Parents must make a commitment to regular daily attendance.
Transportation will be provided to and from school for both locations by our Transportation Department. Please note that students must be four years old to ride a school bus, so families of UPK students who are three years old at the beginning of the school year will need to transport their child until their fourth birthday. Please fill out the INTEREST SURVEY for open enrollment. If the slots are filled, any additional students will be placed on a waitlist.
Surveys may be dropped off or mailed to Colden Elementary School, 8263 Boston-Colden Road, Colden, NY 14033, Attention: UPK Coordinator - Colden Elementary. Surveys may also be dropped off at the main office of any S-GI school, but they must be in a sealed envelope and labeled “UPK Coordinator – Colden Elementary”.
Letters from S-GI notifying you of your child’s enrollment status will be mailed by the end of the current school year. Official registration materials will be sent to those selected from the lottery process.
