The varsity girls tennis team dropped a tough doubleheader to Iroquois last night by a score of 3-2, 3-2.

Evelyn Berry was once again fantastic in the first singles spot as she won 8-1, 8-1. Evelyn continues ascending into a phenomenal player and the undisputed best singles player in Division 3.

In second singles action Natalie Rumfola won 8-2, 8-2. Natalie unloaded a new weapon in her arsenal with a dynamic slice serve. The serve kept her opponent off-balanced and let Natalie dictate a lot of the points.

In the first doubles action, Peyton Wells and Taylor Wells lost 8-1, 8-1. The girls played a solid match but went up against a terrific team. Both girls had some solid moments on the court and made smart plays throughout the match.

In third doubles action Teerada Dickson and Kailyn Sprague lost 8-1, 8-0. The girls made some quality shots but couldn’t string along enough points to get some momentum. Still, the girls played many competitive games that could’ve went either way.

In exhibition action Chloe Dinse Johnson and Brooklyn Heim won 7-1. It was great to see both girls get the win and gain momentum heading into the last few matches of the season. Gianna Nevins and Mackenzie Neff also took the court and showed some signs of good play. The future is bright for the Lady Griffs!

The result of last nights matches moved the girls into sole possession of second place. An incredible showing by a great group of girls! The team will head to Tonawanda on Monday afternoon in a non-league matchup.
